Island Finance donates seedlings to the community

Island Finance maintains several active social responsibility programs focusing on enhancing the quality of life for our communities. This year, as part of their 20th anniversary celebrations, they are partnering with the SURE Foundation (Sustainable Unemployment Reduction Efforts) to distribute seedlings of celery, chive, bodi, patchoi, lettuce, tomatoes, hot peppers, sweet peppers, cauliflower, cabbage, eggplant and orcho. Over 25,000 seedlings were gifted by Island Finance employees to members of the community at an event that took place at their Gasparillo branch on September 8, 2022. During the event, members of the SURE Foundation provided tips on how to care for the plants to ensure that they develop properly.

Via this initiative, the company seeks to make a difference facilitating and creating awareness about the need for each of us to individually take action to better the environment. Planting promotes clean air, clean water, combats global warming and climate change. By something so simple as planting “seeds” to grow today we can impact the future of our youth in a positive way. As an added value the seeds that are being distributed by Island Finance have the capacity to become healthy food.

“This is also a ‘thank you’ gesture to members of the community for their support over our 20 years of operations in Trinidad and Tobago,” said Rehana Khan, Country Manager of Island Finance. “Each seed that we plant is undoubtfully an act of kindness. So, we invite everyone to get involved planting seeds to grow and enjoy watching the new plants spring to life and produce food.” added Rehana.

“We are grateful for our employees that volunteered, and SURE foundation that made this meaningful event possible. Looking forward to continuing growing together”, said Ms. Khan.
